Children and Teens
We have therapists specifically trained to work with children struggling with developmental, behavioral, or emotional issues. We utilize a variety of techniques to help children and their families cope with challenges such as loss and grief, trauma, anxiety, depression, ADHD, autism, and behavioral issues. We have an RPT-S (Registered Play Therapist – Supervisor) on staff and can provide directive and nondirective play therapy, sandtray therapy, and filial therapy.
Teens also face a number of relationship, social, academic, and emotional challenges as part of normal development. We can support adolescents in addressing these issues by improving communication skills and coping strategies, as well as improving insight and positive self-talk and self-care skills.
Our goal is to provide a safe and supportive environment in which young people can process, grow, and explore not only their challenges but also their strengths. In addition to play therapy, we also utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), attachment-based and trauma-focused approaches.
If requested by parents or guardians, we can work with schools to coordinate treatment and provide additional support and resources. We are also skilled at providing therapy aimed at reducing the impact of divorce or parental separation for children and adolescents.
