Mateo Small

LPC

Mateo has been working with children, adolescents and families in mental health and school settings for the past six years.  Mateo strives to create a positive, warm and open atmosphere in sessions with clients to support them in identifying concerns and developing strategies to achieve their goals and heal and grow into a better wellness.

Mateo believes that having a strong therapeutic rapport encourages clients to be more open in their vulnerability, and be the expert in their own journey to healing and achieving their goals.  He encourages clients to go at their own pace, take responsibility and strive to be the best versions of themselves.  Mateo utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) and elements of non-directive play therapy to help children, adolescents, and adults cope with depression, anxiety, trauma, ADHD, school related problems, and behavioral issues.
